Getting and Using a Useful Pistol Squat-to-Split Squat Estimate

Source test: Stand on one leg with the non-working leg off the ground, descend under control until the hip crease is below the working knee while the heel stays flat, then stand to full hip and knee extension. Enter strict reps per leg under the same standard. Do not count hand or opposite-leg assistance, bouncing, partial range, box assistance, counterbalance loading, Smith or machine assistance, or momentum.

Target represented: Stand in a stable split stance with the rear foot on the floor, no hand support, and the same stance used for the entered side. Lower under control until the front knee bends clearly and the rear knee travels close to the floor without bouncing off it; then return to a tall split-stance finish. Every counted rep finishes in the same split stance with hips and knees controlled before the next descent.
