Weighted Dip 1RM Calculator
Estimate a weighted-dip max from a set you have completed, then explore a different rep target or a chosen percentage. This calculator applies the rep-max equation to your bodyweight plus added weight and shows the added-weight answer separately.
Enter bodyweight and added weight in their own fields, using the same parallel-bar dip setup and movement range. This is an estimate from your set; keep both weight labels when comparing it with an earlier result or another calculator.
You’ll see the estimated single, the extra weight for your selected target and a rep-max chart. If a target falls below your bodyweight, the result explains why this tool cannot turn it into an added-weight dip prescription.
Read the added-weight and combined-weight results
Use the estimated added weight for the selected target while keeping bodyweight separate in your log. The combined weight remains the value used inside the rep-max equation.
Calculate above to see your current result and the numbers behind it.
Count weight consistently for a weighted dip
Enter bodyweight and extra weight separately for a parallel-bar dip set: bodyweight is your current body mass, while extra weight is only what is attached to the belt or vest. Add the full repetitions completed (1–10), then choose a target repetition count or percentage using the same dip setup and range of motion.
The result shows estimated added weight and total-system weight side by side. Keep bodyweight separate when logging, and treat a target below bodyweight as unsupported; the calculator cannot tell you how much assistance to use.
- Weight unit
- Choose the unit shown on your weights.
- Bodyweight
- Enter your current bodyweight, without any extra exercise weight.
- Extra weight attached
- Enter only the weight attached to your belt or vest. Your bodyweight is counted separately.
- Repetitions completed
- Enter 1–10 full repetitions from a hard set with consistent technique.
- Repetitions to estimate
- Choose how many repetitions you want to estimate a weight for, from 1 to 10.
- Percentage of your estimated max
- Enter the percentage weight you want to calculate.
- Available attached-weight increase
- Enter the smallest increase you can make to the weight attached to your dip belt or vest. Bodyweight is not part of this rounding step.
Compare added-weight dip targets across reps
The chart distinguishes combined weight from external weight across rep targets. A target below bodyweight is marked as unsupported; this chart cannot tell you how much assistance to use.
The example below shows how to read the graph. Your graph updates after you calculate, and the complete values remain available in the table beneath it.
Vertical axis: Weight (lb)
On a small screen, swipe the graph sideways or open its data table.
Horizontal axis: Target repetitions (reps)
- Estimated rep-max weight
- Total-system target
- Observed completed set

Follow the weighted-dip calculation
The result uses only the values you enter and the method shown below. Rounded workout values stay separate from the underlying calculation.

A checked weighted dips example
This checked example uses pounds. It comes directly from the same calculator that produces your result.
Select “Use example” to load these values. If you choose kilograms in the calculator, the chart and personalized tables recalculate in kilograms.
| Result | Value |
|---|---|
| Weight unit | lb |
| Bodyweight | 176.37 lb |
| Extra weight attached | 44.09 lb |
| Repetitions completed | 5 |
| Estimated 1RM (added weight) | 71.68 lb |
| Total-system target | 248.04 lb |
Use the weighted-dip estimate with its limits
Use this as a repeatable estimate, not proof of your true one-rep max. The available study used to check the Brzycki equation tested free-weight bench press in 103 college women. That study checks the equation in that setting; It did not test this exercise. The weighted-dip calculation uses bodyweight plus attached weight inside the equation, then subtracts bodyweight to show the estimated attached weight. Do not compare that number with a standards page using a different convention. Use a hard set of 1–10 full repetitions. Stopping early can understate the estimate, and this calculator does not accept higher-repetition sets.
