Leg Press (45° Sled) vs Reverse Band Deadlift Strength Standards
Compare your leg press and reverse band deadlift against strength standards for your sex and bodyweight. Enter 1–12 reps for estimated one-rep maxes, strength levels, next targets, priority.
First lift: total plates loaded on the 45-degree sled and 1–12 strict reps. Second lift: weight used and 1–12 strict reps. Pounds or kilograms. For the first exercise, keep both feet flat and approximately shoulder-width, descend until the thighs reach at least parallel to the platform without lifting the hips or rounding the lower back. For the second exercise, measure total upward assistance at shaft height on floor start and at shaft height in full standing lockout; record total band count and exact anchors, choking/doubling, routing. Heavier lift is not automatically the stronger one.
Leg Press vs Reverse Band Deadlift Strength Standards
The paired standards below show what the 45-degree leg press and reverse band deadlift each require at the same strength level. They are separate exercise targets rather than a prescribed difference between your lifts.
Select the appropriate sex table and nearest bodyweight, then choose a strength-level column. Values are ordered Leg Press / Reverse Band Deadlift in pounds with kilograms underneath. The calculator above handles exact bodyweight and set inputs.

How Your Leg Press vs Reverse Band Deadlift Result Is Calculated
Each set is converted to an estimated max before the calculator assigns exercise-specific strength levels and compares them.
1. Estimate a one-rep max from each set
When the set contains one rep, the entered load is the estimate. For 2–12 reps, the calculator keeps the less aggressive of the two formula results.
- Epley: weight × (1 + reps ÷ 30)
- Brzycki: weight × 36 ÷ (37 − reps)
Use recent Leg Press and Reverse Band Deadlift sets with consistent technique and full intended range of motion. Difficult lower-rep sets generally make the estimated max less dependent on extrapolation.
2. Find the 45-degree leg press strength level
For 45-degree leg press, the individual exercise thresholds start from reference bodyweights of 190 lb for men and 150 lb for women. Exact-bodyweight targets use reference target × (user bodyweight ÷ reference bodyweight) to the two-thirds power.
Two-thirds scaling raises the target as bodyweight rises while limiting the size advantage that a direct one-to-one adjustment would create.
3. Find the reverse band deadlift strength level
The standards use the sex-specific thresholds from the individual Reverse Band Deadlift tool. Targets begin at 190 lb for men and 150 lb for women, then adjust to exact bodyweight with reference target × (user bodyweight ÷ reference bodyweight) to the two-thirds power.
This adjustment expects larger lifters to move more weight, but it does not increase the target pound for pound with bodyweight.
4. Compare the two results
Strength level decides the comparison first. Matching levels remain Balanced unless progress toward the next target differs by at least 10 points.
A priority result is a standards comparison, not a diagnosis. Differences in technique, fatigue, practice, or set effort may influence it. Age range is recorded anonymously and does not alter these standards.
| Stage | What happens |
|---|---|
| Estimate each max | Use the entered weight for 1 rep; for 2–12 reps, keep the lower formula result. |
| Rate the leg press | Adjust 45-degree leg press targets to exact bodyweight with the two-thirds rule. |
| Rate the reverse band deadlift | Use the exercise-specific estimated max and adjust targets to exact bodyweight with the two-thirds scaling rule. |
| Compare different levels | Name the lower-level lift as the priority. |
| Compare matching levels | Use Balanced unless the difference in progress toward the next level reaches 10 points. |
Enter both sets above to see the estimated maxes, assigned levels, next-level targets, and comparison result.
How Men’s Leg Press and Reverse Band Deadlift Standards Differ
What the men’s data shows:
The standards come closest at 120 lb.
Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced at every displayed bodyweight.
Across 120–300 lb bodyweight, the Elite gap changes from 3.2 to 5.5 kg.
How to read this chart: Choose a strength level and follow its line across bodyweight. Values show the Reverse Band Deadlift standard minus the Leg Press standard: zero means equal, above zero means the Reverse Band Deadlift standard is higher, and below zero means the Leg Press standard is higher. Leg Press and Reverse Band Deadlift Exercises Used by This Calculator
Compare like-for-like attempts by keeping the 45-degree leg press and reverse band deadlift setup consistent with their individual rules. Use strict, repeatable Leg Press and Reverse Band Deadlift tests that follow each exercise’s setup, range of motion, equipment, and load rules. Do not mix variations, assistance, partial range, momentum, or different load conventions.
Use a 45-degree plate-loaded sled leg press
Keep both feet flat and approximately shoulder-width, descend until the thighs reach at least parallel to the platform without lifting the hips or rounding the lower back, and press to controlled full knee extension. Do not enter a horizontal, vertical, selectorized, single-leg, high-foot, partial, bounced, or assisted press.
Use the Reverse Band Deadlift setup and load convention
Use straight 20 kg barbell with standard 450 mm plates/collars on level floor and matched bands suspended symmetrically from fixed overhead anchors. Record base barbell mass excluding bands. Measure total upward assistance at shaft height on floor start and at shaft height in full standing lockout; record total band count and exact anchors, choking/doubling, routing. Never infer from color. Floor assistance must exceed nonnegative lockout assistance; each is less than base mass. Effective bottom = base − floor assistance. Effective top = base − lockout assistance. Score effective top; display base, effective bottom/top, and `increasing resistance (decreasing assistance)`. Conventional stance with hands outside legs; double-overhand, hook, or mixed raw grip; no straps. Pull from motionless floor to controlled full knee/hip extension with shoulders behind/in line with bar; no hitch, thigh ramp, bounce, downward bar motion, or backward lean. Reset floor position; same setup/measurements across 1–10 reps. Belt, sleeves, wrist tape, chalk, shoes allowed; no suit, straps, hooks, assistance.
