Leg Press (45° Sled) vs Double Kettlebell Overhead Squat Strength Standards

Compare your leg press and double kettlebell overhead squat against strength standards for your sex and bodyweight. Enter 1–12 reps for estimated one-rep maxes, strength levels, next targets, priority.

First lift: total plates loaded on the 45-degree sled and 1–12 strict reps. Second lift: weight used and 1–12 strict reps. Pounds or kilograms. For the first exercise, keep both feet flat and approximately shoulder-width, descend until the thighs reach at least parallel to the platform without lifting the hips or rounding the lower back. For the second exercise, reach depth with each hip crease below the top of its knee, then stand to full hip/knee extension with both bells still stable overhead. Heavier lift is not automatically the stronger one.

Leg Press vs Double Kettlebell Overhead Squat Strength Standards

The paired standards below show what the 45-degree leg press and double kettlebell overhead squat each require at the same strength level. They are separate exercise targets rather than a prescribed difference between your lifts.

Select the appropriate sex table and nearest bodyweight, then choose a strength-level column. Values are ordered Leg Press / Double Kettlebell Overhead Squat in pounds with kilograms underneath. The calculator above handles exact bodyweight and set inputs.

How Your Leg Press vs Double Kettlebell Overhead Squat Result Is Calculated

The comparison starts by estimating each max separately. It then rates both lifts against their own standards before identifying the lower result.

1. Estimate a one-rep max from each set

A one-rep set uses the entered weight. For 2–12 reps, both formulas are calculated and the lower estimate is retained.

  • Epley: weight × (1 + reps ÷ 30)
  • Brzycki: weight × 36 ÷ (37 − reps)

Use recent Leg Press and Double Kettlebell Overhead Squat sets with consistent technique and full intended range of motion. Difficult lower-rep sets generally make the estimated max less dependent on extrapolation.

2. Find the 45-degree leg press strength level

The 45-degree leg press rating uses its sex-specific exercise standards. Reference targets at 190 lb for men and 150 lb for women are scaled to the entered bodyweight by reference target × (user bodyweight ÷ reference bodyweight) to the two-thirds power.

Two-thirds scaling raises the target as bodyweight rises while limiting the size advantage that a direct one-to-one adjustment would create.

3. Find the double kettlebell overhead squat strength level

For double kettlebell overhead squat, the individual exercise thresholds start from reference bodyweights of 190 lb for men and 150 lb for women. Exact-bodyweight targets use reference target × (user bodyweight ÷ reference bodyweight) to the two-thirds power.

Two-thirds scaling raises the target as bodyweight rises while limiting the size advantage that a direct one-to-one adjustment would create.

4. Compare the two results

Strength level decides the comparison first. Matching levels remain Balanced unless progress toward the next target differs by at least 10 points.

Treat the result as a training comparison rather than an explanation of why one lift trails. Set quality, fatigue, skill, and training exposure all matter. Age range is recorded anonymously but does not change these standards.

StageWhat happens
Estimate each maxUse the entered weight for 1 rep; for 2–12 reps, keep the lower formula result.
Rate the leg pressAdjust 45-degree leg press targets to exact bodyweight with the two-thirds rule.
Rate the double kettlebell overhead squatUse the exercise-specific estimated max and adjust targets to exact bodyweight with the two-thirds scaling rule.
Compare different levelsName the lower-level lift as the priority.
Compare matching levelsUse Balanced unless the difference in progress toward the next level reaches 10 points.

The calculator above applies these steps to your exact entries and reports both lift ratings, both next targets, and the final comparison.

Leg Press and Double Kettlebell Overhead Squat Exercises Used by This Calculator

Valid results depend on using the specified 45-degree leg press and double kettlebell overhead squat technique and load convention. Use strict, repeatable Leg Press and Double Kettlebell Overhead Squat tests that follow each exercise’s setup, range of motion, equipment, and load rules. Do not mix variations, assistance, partial range, momentum, or different load conventions.

Use a 45-degree plate-loaded sled leg press

Keep both feet flat and approximately shoulder-width, descend until the thighs reach at least parallel to the platform without lifting the hips or rounding the lower back, and press to controlled full knee extension. Do not enter a horizontal, vertical, selectorized, single-leg, high-foot, partial, bounced, or assisted press.

Use the Double Kettlebell Overhead Squat setup and load convention

Use two equal kettlebells. Enter one verified kettlebell mass; display per and combined; score the combined pair. Establish both overhead before the counted rep with elbows locked, shoulders active, neutral wrists, and each bell resting behind its wrist/forearm. Set heel-center spacing to measured biacromial width ±5 cm; toes may turn outward up to 30°. Keep both feet fully planted and the stance unchanged. Descend under control while both elbows remain locked. Reach depth with each hip crease below the top of its knee, then stand to full hip/knee extension with both bells still stable overhead. Reset motionless overhead for each of 1–8 reps. A clean/snatch/press may establish the start but is not counted. Chalk, belt, knee sleeves, wrist wraps, and weightlifting shoes allowed; straps/hooks, support, and assistance prohibited.
