Leg Press (45° Sled) vs Cable Deadlift Strength Standards

Compare your leg press and cable deadlift against strength standards for your sex and bodyweight. Enter 1–12 reps for estimated one-rep maxes, strength levels, next targets, priority.

First lift: total plates loaded on the 45-degree sled and 1–12 strict reps. Second lift: displayed machine or cable resistance and 1–12 strict reps. Pounds or kilograms. For the first exercise, keep both feet flat and approximately shoulder-width, descend until the thighs reach at least parallel to the platform without lifting the hips or rounding the lower back. For the second exercise, pull from the specified low cable start to a controlled standing finish without turning the rep into a pull-through, squat, arm pull, or bounced stack rep. Heavier lift is not automatically the stronger one.

Leg Press vs Cable Deadlift Strength Standards

The paired standards below show what the 45-degree leg press and cable deadlift each require at the same strength level. They are separate exercise targets rather than a prescribed difference between your lifts.

Select the appropriate sex table and nearest bodyweight, then choose a strength-level column. Values are ordered Leg Press / Cable Deadlift in pounds with kilograms underneath. The calculator above handles exact bodyweight and set inputs.

How Your Leg Press vs Cable Deadlift Result Is Calculated

Each set is converted to an estimated max before the calculator assigns exercise-specific strength levels and compares them.

1. Estimate a one-rep max from each set

When the set contains one rep, the entered load is the estimate. For 2–12 reps, the calculator keeps the less aggressive of the two formula results.

  • Epley: weight × (1 + reps ÷ 30)
  • Brzycki: weight × 36 ÷ (37 − reps)

For the most useful Leg Press vs Cable Deadlift comparison, enter clean, difficult sets performed with the same technique and range of motion you use in training. Lower-rep sets usually require less extrapolation.

2. Find the 45-degree leg press strength level

The 45-degree leg press rating uses its sex-specific exercise standards. Reference targets at 190 lb for men and 150 lb for women are scaled to the entered bodyweight by reference target × (user bodyweight ÷ reference bodyweight) to the two-thirds power.

Two-thirds scaling raises the target as bodyweight rises while limiting the size advantage that a direct one-to-one adjustment would create.

3. Find the cable deadlift strength level

The cable deadlift rating uses its sex-specific exercise standards.

4. Compare the two results

Each max receives a level from Beginner through Elite. The lower-level lift becomes the priority. At matching levels, a priority appears only when one lift is at least 10 points farther from its next level; otherwise the result is Balanced.

Treat the result as a training comparison rather than an explanation of why one lift trails. Set quality, fatigue, skill, and training exposure all matter. Age range is recorded anonymously but does not change these standards.

StageWhat happens
Estimate each maxUse the entered weight for 1 rep; for 2–12 reps, keep the lower formula result.
Rate the leg pressAdjust 45-degree leg press targets to exact bodyweight with the two-thirds rule.
Rate the cable deadliftUse the exercise-specific estimated max and adjust targets to exact bodyweight with the two-thirds scaling rule.
Compare different levelsName the lower-level lift as the priority.
Compare matching levelsUse Balanced unless the difference in progress toward the next level reaches 10 points.

Leg Press and Cable Deadlift Exercises Used by This Calculator

For a useful comparison, perform a strict 45-degree leg press and a strict cable deadlift using the setup and load rules below. Use strict, repeatable Leg Press and Cable Deadlift tests that follow each exercise’s setup, range of motion, equipment, and load rules. Do not mix variations, assistance, partial range, momentum, or different load conventions.

Use a 45-degree plate-loaded sled leg press

Keep both feet flat and approximately shoulder-width, descend until the thighs reach at least parallel to the platform without lifting the hips or rounding the lower back, and press to controlled full knee extension. Do not enter a horizontal, vertical, selectorized, single-leg, high-foot, partial, bounced, or assisted press.

Use the Cable Deadlift setup and load convention

The selected cable resistance for the strict cable deadlift setup. Valid Cable Deadlift reps. Pull from the approved low cable start to a controlled standing finish without turning the rep into a pull-through, squat, arm pull, or bounced stack rep. Consistent setup, range, and finish quality across the entered set. No substituted exercise or assisted reps.
