Barbell Power Clean vs Two Kettlebell Clean Strength Standards
Compare your barbell power clean and double kettlebell clean against strength standards for your sex and bodyweight. Enter one recent set of 1–12 reps for each lift to see estimated one-rep maxes, strength levels, next targets, and priority.
First lift: total barbell weight and 1–12 strict reps. Second lift: total weight of both kettlebells and 1–12 strict reps. Pounds or kilograms. For the first exercise, begin every rep motionless on the floor, reach full extension, turn the bar over into a secure front rack above parallel, and stand tall. For the second exercise, clean both kettlebells from the floor or hang to a stable double rack with a controlled catch, no reverse curl, no crash, no press. Each lift is compared with its own standards, so the heavier lift is not automatically the stronger one.

These bodyweight tables place the power clean and double kettlebell clean targets side by side from Novice through Elite. Use them to compare standards, not to force a particular ratio between the lifts.
Find the closest row in the men’s or women’s table. Every target lists Power Clean / Double Kettlebell Clean, pounds first and kilograms second. Enter your own sets above for exact ratings without testing a true one-rep max.

How Your Barbell Power Clean vs Double Kettlebell Clean Result Is Calculated
The calculator estimates both one-rep maxes, rates each one against its exercise and bodyweight standards, and then compares the two ratings.
1. Estimate a one-rep max from each set
When the set contains one rep, the entered load is the estimate. For 2–12 reps, the calculator keeps the less aggressive of the two formula results.
- Epley: weight × (1 + reps ÷ 30)
- Brzycki: weight × 36 ÷ (37 − reps)
For the most useful Barbell Power Clean vs Double Kettlebell Clean comparison, enter clean, difficult sets performed with the same technique and range of motion you use in training. Lower-rep sets usually require less extrapolation.
2. Find the power clean strength level
For power clean, the individual exercise thresholds start from reference bodyweights of 190 lb for men and 150 lb for women. Exact-bodyweight targets use reference target × (user bodyweight ÷ reference bodyweight) to the two-thirds power.
This adjustment expects larger lifters to move more weight, but it does not increase the target pound for pound with bodyweight.
3. Find the double kettlebell clean strength level
For double kettlebell clean, the individual exercise thresholds start from reference bodyweights of 190 lb for men and 150 lb for women. Exact-bodyweight targets use reference target × (user bodyweight ÷ reference bodyweight) to the two-thirds power.
This adjustment expects larger lifters to move more weight, but it does not increase the target pound for pound with bodyweight.
4. Compare the two results
The lift with the lower Beginner-to-Elite rating is the priority. If both ratings match, the calculator requires a 10-point difference in next-level progress before naming a priority; otherwise it reports Balanced.
The result identifies the lower standards rating, not its cause. Technique, fatigue, training history, and set quality can all affect the comparison. Age range is recorded anonymously but does not change these standards.
| Stage | What happens |
|---|---|
| Estimate each max | Use the entered weight for 1 rep; for 2–12 reps, keep the lower formula result. |
| Rate the power clean | Adjust power clean targets to exact bodyweight with the two-thirds rule. |
| Rate the double kettlebell clean | Use the exercise-specific estimated max and adjust targets to exact bodyweight with the two-thirds scaling rule. |
| Compare different levels | Name the lower-level lift as the priority. |
| Compare matching levels | Use Balanced unless the difference in progress toward the next level reaches 10 points. |
Enter both sets above to see the estimated maxes, assigned levels, next-level targets, and comparison result.

Barbell Power Clean and Double Kettlebell Clean Exercises Used by This Calculator
Compare like-for-like attempts by keeping the power clean and double kettlebell clean setup consistent with their individual rules. Use strict, repeatable Barbell Power Clean and Double Kettlebell Clean tests that follow each exercise’s setup, range of motion, equipment, and load rules. Do not mix variations, assistance, partial range, momentum, or different load conventions.
Start from the floor and catch above parallel
Enter total barbell weight. Begin every rep motionless on the floor, reach full extension, turn the bar over into a secure front rack above parallel, and stand tall. Do not enter a hang clean, squat clean, muscle clean, high pull without a catch, bounced rep, press-out, strapped lift, or machine variation.
Use the Double Kettlebell Clean setup and load convention
The total combined weight of both kettlebells cleaned to the double rack. Strict paired-kettlebell clean reps. Clean both kettlebells from the floor or hang to a stable double rack with a controlled catch, no reverse curl, no crash, no press, and no staggered one-bell completion. Consistent setup, range, and finish quality across the entered set. No substituted exercise or assisted reps.
