Isometric Bench Press Force Testing Rules
User sets a normal bench press position with safeties or spotter protection, unracks or receives the bar, lowers to the approved mid-range hold height, and starts timing once the bar is motionless. During the attempt, bar height remains within the approved mid-range window, shoulders stay set on the bench, hips remain controlled, feet stay planted, and the bar does not rest on pins, chest, board, rack, or spotter assistance.
Timing stops when the bar drifts materially, touches the chest or pins, locks out, receives spotter help, hips bridge excessively, shoulders lose position, or the user ends the hold. Entered load is total barbell load held in the mid-range bench position, including bar and plates; it is external load only and does not include bodyweight or force-plate output. Bilateral barbell hold; no side selector or summed-side behavior applies.
